Nigeria: Salvation for All

1 Corinthians 1:26-31
“For you see your calling, brethren, that not many wise according to the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called. 27 But God has chosen the foolish things of the world to put to shame the wise, and God has chosen the weak things of the world to put to shame the things which are mighty; 28 and the base things of the world and the things which are despised God has chosen, and the things which are not, to bring to nothing the things that are, 29 that no flesh should glory in His presence30 But of Him you are in Christ Jesus, who became for us wisdom from God—and righteousness and sanctification and redemption— 31 that, as it is written, “He who glories, let him glory in the Lord.”

  • Let us thank God for making us His divine choice. It is not by works of righteousness that we have done but it is only according to His mercy that He has saved.
  • Thank Him for calling us to Himself through the gospel and for revealing His hidden wisdom to us in a mystery. It is because of Him that we are in Christ Jesus. Lord, You have become for me, wisdom, righteousness, sanctification and redemption. Hallelujah! Take all the glory, Lord.
  • Thank the Lord that He is here, thank Him for His blessing, thank Him for His Spirit that quickens us and helps us to stand on the premise of ‘Not I but Christ’.
  • Thank Him for His mercy that has brought us into His intercession for Nigeria. “…It is Christ who died, and furthermore is also risen, who is even at the right hand of God, who also makes intercession for us.” – Romans 8:34b.

Romans 6:13
“And do not present your members as instruments of unrighteousness to sin, but present yourselves to God as being alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness to God.”

An instrument is:
A tool for precision work to achieve a desired end.
A device that required skill for proper use.

  • Lord, I present myself to You as one who is alive from the dead. I present my members (my mind, my will, my thoughts, my eyes, my ears, my hands, my feet – all my members) as instruments of righteousness to God.
  • Make me skilled in the word of righteousness, that by reason of use, have my senses exercised to discern both good and evil – Hebrews 5: 13-14.
  • Please grant grace and strength in my inner man to cast down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ. - 2 Corinthians 10:5.
  • 2 Corinthians 13:5 - “Examine yourselves as to whether you are in the faith. Test yourselves. Do you not know yourselves, that Jesus Christ is in you? – unless indeed you are disqualified.”
  • Am I really walking in the principles of Christ that I have learnt? Do I understand the gravity of every sin? Lord, have mercy on me and purge me from every dross.
  • Lord, impress on my heart Your burden for Nigeria and qualify me as an instrument to bear it and discharge it, to pray down Your will in heaven until You achieve Your desired end for the nation.

Prayer for Nigeria

God’s Promises

Zechariah 4:6 (NKJV)
So he answered and said to me: “This is the word of the Lord to Zerubbabel:
‘Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit,’ Says the Lord of hosts.

Isaiah 60:22 (NKJV)
“A little one shall become a thousand, And a small one a strong nation.
I, the Lord, will hasten it in its time.”

Prayer Burden
  • Revival in Nigeria.
    • The complete gospel to be re-stated in the Church.
    • Unity of the Body of Christ.
    • Widespread knowledge of the mystery of the gospel through the Church.
    • National Repentance.
    • Great exploit of souls and multiplication of disciples in every place.
    • The establishment of the purpose of the mystery in every facet of life, reaching every citizen of Nigeria in every tribe and tongue.
    • Leaders that yield to the counsel of God and carry mind of Christ.
    • Righteousness to be established in the nation.

Isaiah 56:1-8 - Salvation for the Gentiles

Thus says the Lord:
“Keep justice, and do righteousness,
For My salvation is about to come,
And My righteousness to be revealed.

Blessed is the man who does this,
And the son of man who lays hold on it;
Who keeps from defiling the Sabbath,
And keeps his hand from doing any evil.”

Do not let the son of the foreigner
Who has joined himself to the Lord
Speak, saying,
The Lord has utterly separated me from His people”;
Nor let the eunuch say,
Here I am, a dry tree.”

For thus says the Lord:
“To the eunuchs who keep My Sabbaths,
And choose what pleases Me,
And hold fast My covenant,
Even to them I will give in My house
And within My walls a place and a name
Better than that of sons and daughters;
I will give them an everlasting name
That shall not be cut off.

“Also the sons of the foreigner
Who join themselves to the Lord
, to serve Him,
And to love the name of the Lord, to be His servants—
Everyone who keeps from defiling the Sabbath,
And holds fast My covenant—

Even them I will bring to My holy mountain,
And make them joyful in My house of prayer.
Their burnt offerings and their sacrifices
Will be accepted on My altar;

For My house shall be called a house of prayer for all nations.”
The Lord God, who gathers the outcasts of Israel, says,
“Yet I will gather to him
Others besides those who are gathered to him.”

This is what the Lord does to ‘the son of the foreigner who joins himself to the Lord’:

God will give him a place and an everlasting name in His house.
He will not be cut off.
God will bring Him to His holy mountain by Himself.
He will make them joyful in His house.
He will accept the offering of their life.

PRAYER POINTS
  • Lord, You are the one who gathers the ‘outcasts of Isreal’. Please gather all who do not identify with Christ from every corner of Nigeria. Bring them to Your feet by a miracle. Give them a place and an everlasting name in Your house.
  • Reveal Yourself to muslim souls in Nigeria. Every soul belongs to You. Please Lord, let them have a revelation of who You are. Show them Your face. Deliver them from evil, for thine is Thy kingdom.
  • Lord, open the eyes of athiests, to idol worshippers and those who serve other gods in Nigeria. Turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan to God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins and an inheritance among those who are sanctified by faith in You.  - Acts 26:18.
  • Lord, You said that all nations will come, even the foreigners. “For My house shall become a house of prayer for all nations.” Let it be so in Nigeria. Let there be an increase in Your kingdom from the muslim community, from the idol worshipers, from the atheists, from all who are outside the church.
  • Raise disciples that are bold and courageous, disciples that can engage with these communities, and take the total counsel of God to them in wisdom. Let there be an ingathering from these communities.
  • Please Lord, heal our land restore comfort to us and all who are crying for revival in Nigeria. Let there be great testimonies of the revelation of JESUS in the lives of anyone who is crying to you, “Here I am, a dry tree.”
  • Let there be a great exploit of souls and multiplication of disciples in every community in Nigeria in the name of Jesus.

HYMN:
GOD IS HERE AND THAT TO BLESS US

God is here, and that to bless us
With the Spirit’s quickening power;
See, the cloud already bending,
Waits to drop the grateful shower.

Let it come, O Lord, we pray Thee,
Let the shower of blessing fall;
We are waiting, we are waiting
Oh, revive the hearts of all.

God is here! we feel His presence
In this consecrated place;
But we need the soul refreshing
Of His free, unbounded grace.

God is here! oh, then, believing,
Bring to Him our one desire,
That His love may now be kindled,
Till its flame each heart inspire.

Saviour, grant the prayer we offer,
While in simple faith we bow,
From the windows of Thy mercy
Pour us out a blessing now.
