Nigeria: The Greatest Invitation

Matthew 11:28 Living Bible (TLB)
“Come to me and I will give you rest—all of you who work so hard beneath a heavy yoke. Wear my yoke—for it fits perfectly—and let me teach you; for I am gentle and humble, and you shall find rest for your souls; for I give you only light burdens.”

Matthew 11:28-30 Amplified Bible (AMP)
“Come to Me, all who are weary and heavily burdened [by religious rituals that provide no peace], and I will give you rest [refreshing your souls with salvation]. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me [following Me as My disciple], for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest (renewal, blessed quiet) for your souls. For My yoke is easy [to bear] and My burden is light.”

Matthew 11:28-30 Easy-to-Read Version (ERV)
“Come to me all of you who are tired from the heavy burden you have been forced to carry. I will give you rest. Accept my teaching. Learn from me. I am gentle and humble in spirit. And you will be able to get some rest. Yes, the teaching that I ask you to accept is easy. The load I give you to carry is light.”

Matthew 11:28-30 The Message (MSG)
“Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you’ll recover your life. I’ll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me—watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly.”

Matthew 11:28-30 King James Version (KJV)
Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”

Prayers
  • Let us thank God for this great invitation that He graciously, in mercy, extend to us to all everywhere.
  • Let us thank Him for the grace to accept the invitation; we know there are still millions who have not heard it, so they cannot accept what they have not heard.
  •  Lord, give us grace as we carry the life of Jesus, to make Him known to others as we see the end time closing in on us.
  • Give us grace to continue in this commission of making Christ known.
  • Make us men and women who will continue to cry: “...that I may know Him and the power of His resurrection and the fellowship of His suffering.

Acts 26:19-20 King James Version (KJV)
“Whereupon, O king Agrippa, I was not disobedient unto the heavenly vision: But shewed first unto them of Damascus, and at Jerusalem, and throughout all the coasts of Judaea, and then to the Gentiles, that they should repent and turn to God, and do works meet for repentance.

Peter in Acts 2:38 Repent and be baptised in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins and receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

John the Baptist in Matthew 3:2 Repent ye, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.

Jesus in Mark 1:15  And saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel.

Prayers
  • Make us obedient to the heavenly vision that all must forsake their sins and turn to God and prove their repentance by doing good deeds. Acts 26:19.
  • Father, as sowers, we go sowing the seed of the gospel of Jesus Christ, and preparing the hearts of men to respond and accept this great invitation.
  • Create a fertile ground in the hearts of men, women, children etc. in Nigeria to receive the engrafted word that is able to save them.
  • Let their hearts be that good soil that brought forth hundred, sixty and thirty fold.
  • Lord, let this simple message of the gospel return to the Churches in Nigeria.
  • Build  Your Church, Lord, and deal with every gate of hell rising against her.
  • Father, let Your children release their lives to be properly taught to become useful vessels in Your hand who are released to teach others.
  • Raise and flood Nigeria with disciples who have forsaken all for the excellency of gaining Christ.

Daniel Hymn
Standing by a purpose true,
Heeding God’s command,
Honor them, the faithful few!
All hail to Daniel’s band!
o   Refrain:
Dare to be a Daniel,
Dare to stand alone!
Dare to have a purpose firm!
Dare to make it known.

Many mighty men are lost,
Daring not to stand,
Who for God had been a host
By joining Daniel’s band.

Many giants, great and tall,
Stalking through the land,
Headlong to the earth would fall,
If met by Daniel’s band.

Hold the Gospel banner high!
On to vict’ry grand!
Satan and his hosts defy,
And shout for Daniel’s band.

Gleaning from Daniel 1:1-21
  • The Lord gave King Nebuchadnezzar victory over Jehoiakim of Jerusalem. Daniel 1:1
  • God gave Daniel a conviction that no man on earth, not even a king can change. Daniel 1:8
  • God gave the superintendent a special appreciation for Daniel and symphathy for his predicament. Daniel 1:9
  • God gave Daniel favour with the steward appointed by the superintendent. He agreed to the diet test (ten-day diet of only vegetables and water rather than the king’s rich food and wines). Daniel 1:14
  • God gave these four youths great ability to learn. They soon mastered all the literature and science of the time. Daniel 1:17
  • God gave Daniel special ability in understanding the meanings of dreams and visionsDaniel 1:17

Output of Daniel's Life
  • None of the young men impressed the king as much as Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael and Azariah.
  • They were put on his regular staff of advisors.
  • In all matters requiring information and balanced judgement, the king found these young men’s advice ten times better than that of all the skilled magicians and wise astrologers in his realm.
Prayers
  • Let us thank God for the youth in our nation.
  • Ask God to birth the life of Jesus in our youth.
  •  Lord, raise disciplers who will disciple them into their destinies.
  • Open the eyes of our leaders to know and see that these ones cannot and must not be ignored. Help them to see the importance of investing in the youth today.
  • Make them young men and women who will have a true purpose and dare to make it known. Make our youth as bold as a lion, give them courage to be able to challenge injustice in their own generation.
  • Let their conviction in the true gospel be so strong that nothing in life or no one can make them turn away or deny their conviction.
  • Who we raise today determines the leaders of tomorrow. What we are seeing in Nigeria today, is the output of what we sow many years ago Father, teach us to sow aright today so You can reap a harvest of souls.
  • Make them youth who know You so that they can do exploits for You. Daniel 11:32
  • Father, raise the Josephs, Esthers, Daniels, Timothys of our own generation and empower them through the Mystery of the Gospel.

The Mystery of the gospel’s great,
Jesus came in the flesh,
To save and show the only life.
Acceptable to God.

Unless the Lord builds a house, the builders work is useless.
Psalm 127:1 Living Bible

  • We ask that You teach us, teach our leaders, teach the Church how to build the next generation according to Your pattern, after the only life You gave to show; the only acceptable life to You - the life of JESUS!!!

Following the recent UK elections, seven Members of Parliament (MPs) of Nigerian descent were elected.

  • Let us thank God and ask that God will guide them in all they do.
  • Pray that God will make them true ambassadors of Christ and Nigeria.
  • The eyes of the world will be on them to see who is inside these ones. Pray that they will be defined by the life of Christ not by their root. Pray that they will carry the servant heart of Jesus.
  • Pray that the ones that already know the Lord will be bold to stand for Jesus and the ones that are not, will come to the saving knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ
