Nigeria: The Body of Christ

Revival in Nigeria
  • Widespread knowledge of the complete gospel – reaching every citizen of Nigeria in every tribe and tongue.
  • Widespread sorrow over sin leading to repentance.
  • Great exploit of souls that are rooted and built up in Christ.
  • Multiplication of disciples in every tribe and tongue.
  • Establishment of the kingdom of God in every place.
  • Sound governmental leadership that yields to the counsel of God.
  • Laws that establish the purpose of God.

God’s Promises
  • Zechariah 4:6 (NKJV) “So he answered and said to me: “This is the word of the Lord to Zerubbabel: ‘Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit,’ Says the Lord of hosts.”
  • Isaiah 60:22 (NKJV) “A little one shall become a thousand, And a small one a strong nation. I, the Lord, will hasten it in its time.”

Prayer for Ourselves

God chooses a man that has a contrite and humble spirit for friendship, for intimacy, for habitation. This is the kind of person we ought to be in order to keep the burden for revival in Nigeria growing in us until we have definite answer to prayer. This is crucial for effective prayers.

Isaiah 57:15
For thus says the High and Lofty One
Who inhabits eternity, whose name is Holy:
“I dwell in the high and holy place,
With him who has a contrite and humble spirit,
To revive the spirit of the humble,
And to revive the heart of the contrite ones.

  • Thank God for the power of the God through the Mystery of the Gospel that has removed the heart of stone from us and has exchanged it for the meek and lowly heart of Jesus. Christ in me the hope of glory.
  • Let the truth of what happened on the cross be my reality on a daily basis. Don’t let the output of my life contradict the work You have done in me. Give me grace to allow  Your truth be seen through my life.
  • Break me and make me contrite and humble in spirit that You may dwell with me. Revive my heart, O Lord.
  • Psalm 51:8 “Make me hear joy and gladness, that the bones You have broken may rejoice.”

Isaiah 66:1-2 (NKJV)
Thus says the Lord:
“Heaven is My throne,
And earth is My footstool.
Where is the house that you will build Me?
And where is the place of My rest?
2 For all those things My hand has made,
And all those things exist,”
Says the Lord.
“But on this one will I look:
On him who is poor and of a contrite spirit,
And who trembles at My word.

  • Let my heart be contrite and humble before You always that You may turn Your gaze towards me and be delighted. Make me a permanent object of Your mercy.
  • Lord, make me be kingdom-minded in prayer. Let my only focus be the advancement of Your purpose on the earth. Let it be my primary assignment to contribute to the increase of Your kingdom.
  • Matthew 11:12 “And from the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffers violence, and the violent take it by force.” Keep the burden for revival in Nigeria burning in my heart. Make me deliberate, concerted, unrelenting and persistent the place of prayer – in my secret place and on the prayer platform.

The Role of the Body of Christ in Revival

  • The burden of our hearts is for a great exploit of souls that are rooted and built up in Christ. However, for this to happen, the Body of Christ will need to be healthy, united and connected to the head, which is Christ.
  • The Mystery of the Gospel must therefore be revealed to each member of the Body of Christ so that they can be bearers of the life of Christ, built up and ready for the Master’s use.
  • God wants to use the Body of Christ in Nigeria to establish His kingdom, in every home, in every school, in the government, in every place in Nigeria.
  • REVIVAL BEGINS FROM THE BODY.

What should the Body of Christ look like in Nigeria?

Ephesians 4:1-7
I, therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you to walk worthy of the calling with which you were called, with all lowliness and gentleness, with longsuffering, bearing with one another in loveendeavoring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called in one hope of your calling; one Lord, one faith, one baptism; one God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all.

  • Prisoners of the Lord, captives of the cross.
  • Who know the love of God and express it to others.
  • Who make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace, no matter their diversity.
  • Who apply their hearts to the oneness of the Body to make known the purpose of Christ’s coming to the world and to bring increase to the kingdom of God.
1 Corinthians 7:13
For by one Spirit we were all baptised into one body—whether Jews or Greeks, whether slaves or free—and have all been made to drink into one Spirit.

1 Corinthians 7:25
… that there should be no schism (division, rift, split) in the body, but that the members should have the same care for one another.

Philippians 2:3
Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than himself.

What does the Body of Christ actually look like in Nigeria?

Disunity
Different Denominations - fragmented
Different Gospel
Infighting – taking each other to court
Worldliness
Occultism
Religion
False Prophets
Severe Persecution

Prayer for the Body of Christ
  • John 17:20  “I do not pray for these alone, but also for those who will believe in Me through their word; 21 that they all may be one, as You, Father, are in Me, and I in You; that they also may be one in Us, that the world may believe that You sent Me.
  • We lift up every believer in Nigeria before Your throne of grace. Please make them all one with one another and one in You so that the unbelievers will come to believe that You came to save them.
  • Luke 3:5-6 “Every valley shall be filled, and every mountain and hill shall be brought low; and the crooked shall be made straight, and the rough ways shall be made smooth; And all flesh shall see the salvation of God. Lord, let it be so for the Body of Christ Nigeria. It will not be by power of by might but and it will be by Your Spirit.
  • Let the fire of revival come down from Your presence and sweep through the nation.
  • Spread Your healing wings over the Body of Christ in Nigeria. Bind their wounds, break down every wall that separates the Body.
  • Psalm 127:1 “Except the Lord build the house, they labour in vain that build it: except the Lord keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain.” O Lord, build Your body in Nigeria. Give strength to Your people to conceive Your purpose and deliver it.
  • Isaiah 66:8 “Who has heard such a thing? Who has seen such things? Shall the earth be made to give birth in one day? Or shall a nation be born at once? For as soon as Zion was in labor, She gave birth to her children.”
  • Lord, we are trusting You for a miracle. In You, the impossible is possible. Nigeria will be filled with men, women, girls and boys who will advance the purpose of God in Nigeria in every walk of life.
  • Psalm 127:5 “…They shall not be ashamed, But shall speak with their enemies in the gate.” Raise men and women in the Body of Christ who can contend for their faith; who can contend against the kingdom of darkness in Nigeria.

2 Corinthians 4:2-6
“But we have renounced the hidden things of shame, not walking in craftiness nor handling the word of God deceitfully, but by manifestation of the truth commending ourselves to every man’s conscience in the sight of God. But even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing, whose minds the god of this age has blinded, who do not believe, lest the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine on them. For we do not preach ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord, and ourselves your bondservants for Jesus’ sake. For it is the God who commanded light to shine out of darkness, who has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.”

  • Lord, let there be repentance in the Body; Raise leaders who will teach Your people to renounce the hidden things of shame.
  • Root out craftiness, cleverness, wisdom of the world, handling the Word of God deceitfully from the Church in Nigeria. Raise disciples who will rightly handle the Word of God. Let the people come back to You.
  • Tear the veil of the flesh blinding the people from receiving the truth; take away every distraction, bring the cross-centred gospel back into sharp focus and let there be light in the name of Jesus. Amen.

I Have Prepared My Heart for You

I have prepared my heart for You
O Lord come take Your Throne,
Nothing must come within my soul,
Nothing must break into my thoughts,
No one must rise to take Your place,
O Lord, come take Your Throne.

I have reserved my lifetime for You;
O Lord come take control,
My life must serve Your purpose Lord,
Living for You and dying to self,
My all I give Your will to serve,
O Lord come take control.

I have released my whole being to You;
O Lord come take Your own
My heart, my soul and body, Lord!
Once and for all and not bit by bit;
I lay them all on the alter for You;
O Lord come take Your own.

I have referred my life's end to You,
Dear Lord, then take me home,
To see thy face is all I ask
My labour here must not be in vain.
My hope, my joy is to reign with You
