Nigeria: Obey the Call

The Burden

Revival in Nigeria
  • Widespread knowledge of the complete gospel – reaching every citizen of Nigeria in every tribe and tongue.
  • Widespread sorrow over sin leading to repentance.
  • Great exploit of souls that are rooted and built up in Christ.
  • Multiplication of disciples in every tribe and tongue.
  • Establishment of the kingdom of God in every place.
  • Sound governmental leadership that is yields to the counsel of God.
  • Laws that establish the purpose of God.

God’s Promises

Zechariah 4:6 (NKJV)
So he answered and said to me: “This is the word of the Lord to Zerubbabel:
‘Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit,’ Says the Lord of hosts.

Isaiah 60:22 (NKJV)
“A little one shall become a thousand, And a small one a strong nation.
I, the Lord, will hasten it in its time.”

The Word of God gives us this wonderful assurance in Numbers 23:19 (NKJV):

“God is not a man, that He should lie, Nor a son of man, that He should repent. Has He said, and will He not do? Or has He spoken, and will He not make it good?

Obey the Call

  • God’s needs disciples in Nigeria to arise and take their place in the coming revival.
  • These are the ones that obey the call of God in Christ into the mystery body of Christ i.e. the called-out ones. 1 Peter 2:9
  • Those who are called in the Lord according to His purpose to be conformed to His image – Romans 8:28-29
  • Those who have departed from iniquity through the power of the cross – 2 Timothy 2:19
  • Those who called through His grace for Christ to be revealed in them – Galatians  1:15-16
  • Those that are called, sanctified by God the Father and preserved in Jesus Christ – Jude 1:1
  • Those who know that they have a new life and live out the reality that old things (the old man and all his deeds) have passed away. 2 Corinthians 5:17
  • Those who have come to Christ to learn of Him and have found rest for their souls - Matthew 11:29
  • Only those that are at rest in Him can rise to address the restlessness in Nigeria.

Moses Obeys God’s Call

Exodus 3:7-10 (GW)
7 The Lord said, “I have seen the misery of my people in Egypt, and I have heard them crying out because of the slave drivers. I know how much they’re suffering.
8 I have come to rescue them from the power of the Egyptians and to bring them from that land to a good land with plenty of room for everyone. It is a land flowing with milk and honey where the Canaanites, Hittites, Amorites, Perizzites, Hivites, and Jebusites live.
9 I have heard the cry of the people of Israel. I have seen how the Egyptians are oppressing them.
10 Now, go! I am sending you to Pharaoh so that you can bring my people Israel out of Egypt.”
God sent Moses to Pharoah.
God is sending His called-out ones to the principalities and powers that have held Nigeria captive. “For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.

Exodus 11:1 (NKJV)
And the Lord said to Moses, “I will bring one more plague on Pharaoh and on Egypt. Afterward he will let you go from here. When he lets you go, he will surely drive you out of here altogether.

Exodus 12:21-23 (NKJV)
21 Then Moses called for all the elders of Israel and said to them, “Pick out and take lambs for yourselves according to your families, and kill the Passover lamb. 22 And you shall take a bunch of hyssop, dip it in the blood that is in the basin, and strike the lintel and the two doorposts with the blood that is in the basin. And none of you shall go out of the door of his house until morning. 23 For the Lord will pass through to strike the Egyptians; and when He sees the blood on the lintel and on the two doorposts, the Lord will pass over the door and not allow the destroyer to come into your houses to strike you.

After the Passover was instituted (a picture of the cross), the final plague - death of every firstborn of Egypt - dealt a final blow and Pharaoh let the people go!

Nigerians Protest Economic Hardship

The current economic hardship in Nigeria is a manifestation of the 'Pharaohs' in Nigeria saying, "No! I will not let you go." (See article: http://www.dw.com/en/nigerians-protest-economic-hardship/a-37432470).

Disciples in Nigeria must be steeped into the cross to be used to deal a final blow to the 'Pharaohs' in the nation. They need to know that there is a Conflict.

God has seen the misery of the people in Nigeria.
He knows how much they are suffering under the yoke of operation.
He has heard the cry of Nigerians – both young and old, and He has come to the rescue.
God is raising disciples who are obedient to His call to become answers the cry of the people:
    • Those who know that there is a conflict, and it is about the souls of men, the kingdom of God and the glory of God – a spiritual warfare.
    • Those who know that the conflict is not about the economy, or with personalities.
    • Those who know that the weapons of warfare of the called-out ones are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds. 2 Corinthians 10:4

Prayer Points: Thanksgiving
  • Let us thank our Lord Jesus Christ, our Passover Lamb, for going to the cross on our behalf. Thank Him for the victory of the cross. Thank Him that we can now walk in victory.
  • Ephesians 1:4 – “…just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love.” Thank God for calling us out of the mixed multitude, out of darkness into light, out of restlessness into rest, through the gospel message.
  • Thank Him for all His disciples that He is currently preparing and using for the furtherance of the gospel in Nigeria – those he has called, sanctified and preserved in Christ Jesus.
  • Thank Him that the gifts and the calling of God upon His disciples are irrevocable [for He does not withdraw what He has given, nor does He change His mind about those to whom He gives His grace or to whom He sends His call]. Romans 11:29

Prayer Points:  Obey the Call

  • Lord, make disciples in Nigeria arise to obey Your call and live lives that are fitting for saints  - no uncleanliness, no covetousness, not course jesting, no idolatry, but rather, giving of thanks. Make me obedient to Your call as I pray for Nigeria.(Ephesians 5:4-5)
  • O Lord, make my life a life you can use to confront the principalities and powers in the nations, a life that is broken and poured out unto Jesus only.
  • Philippians 3:14 “I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.” Grant that moment by moment, I will respond to Your grace, to Your gift and to Your calling in the name of Jesus.
  • Grace to live out he reality that old things (the old man and all his deeds) have passed away, please grant unto me; please grant to the disciples in Nigeria in the name of Jesus.

Prayer Points: Confronting the Pharaohs

  • Lord, the ‘Pharaohs’ in Nigeria are defiant and will not respond to anything else but the cross.  Let the high praises of God be in the mouth of Your disciples in Nigeria. Let a two-edged sword be in their hand… “To execute vengeance on the nations, And punishments on the peoples; To bind their kings with chains, And their nobles with fetters of iron; To execute on them the written judgment—
  • This honor have all His saints.” Psalm 149:6-9
  • John 12:31 “Now is the judgment of this world; now the ruler of this world will be cast out.” Let Your called-out ones in Nigeria stand firmly on the premise of the cross and confront the ‘Pharaohs’ in the land, knowing that the ruler of this world has been cast out.
  • Open the eyes of disciples in Nigeria to see the conflict – to know it is about the souls of men, the kingdom of God and the glory of God, not self defense or self glory. Give them courage to wage a good warfare and to speak to the enemy at every gate.
  • Psalm 24:7-10 “Lift up your heads, O you gates! And be lifted up, you everlasting doors! And the King of glory shall come in. Who is this King of glory?
  • The Lord strong and mighty, The Lord mighty in battle.
  • Challenge the forces of darkness at the gates of the schools, the gates of the universities, the gates of the community, the gates of media, the gates of government and every gate in Nigeria in the name of Jesus.
  • Psalm 125:3-4 “For the scepter of wickedness shall not rest On the land allotted to the righteous, Lest the righteous reach out their hands to iniquity. Do good, O Lord, to those who are good, And to those who are upright in their hearts.”
  • Let it be so in Nigeria. Let the scepter of Righteousness reign in Nigeria. Do good to all your called-out ones. Nigeria will not be overrun by wickedness in the name of Jesus.

Prayer Points: Souls of Men

  • Colossians 2:15 – “Having disarmed principalities and powers, He made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them in it.” Lord, I stand on the premise of the cross that it is no longer I that lives, but Christ. Concerning the nation of Nigeria, let every principality and power lose their hold on souls of men in the name of Jesus.
  • Let there be no hindrance to the gospel message in Nigeria in the name of Jesus. Let there be light, let there be understanding. Grant boldness to Your called-out ones too speak the truth in the face of opposition.
  • 2 Corinthians 4:3-4 “But even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing, whose minds the god of this age has blinded, who do not believe...” Lord, by Your authority we tear down every stronghold of Satan operating in every tribe in Nigeria. Let men and women be released to believe the Word of God in the name of Jesus.

Prayer Points:  Multiplication of Disciples

  • Matthew 4:16 – “The people which sat in darkness saw great light; and to them which sat in the region and shadow of death light is sprung up.” By our lives, by the lives of Your disciples in Nigeria, let men, women, girls and boys in Nigeria who sit in darkness see Your great light.
  • As You promised, let disciples multiply in every sector and every tribe in Nigeria -  disciples that go to the gates of the enemy to frustrate their devices, disciples that will labour to establish the kingdom of God. Hasten the multiplication of every little one to become a thousand.
  • Lord, keep disciples in Nigeria focused on the only reason why they are living, which is to show men the Man of Calvary. Deliver them from the deception of the enemy to shift their focus to self. Let whatever they do convey the mystery of the gospel.

Prayer Points:  Church Leaders in Nigeria

  • Connect Pastors, Bishops and Church leaders the disciples You have sent to them to preach the gospel of Christ and Him Crucified. Make them sit down, let them be humble and repent.
  • Open the eyes of all who have access to pulpits to the mystery of the gospel. Let the Spirit Word come to them as they read the Letter Word.
  • Colossians 2:8 “Beware lest anyone cheat you through philosophy and empty deceit, according to the tradition of men, according to the basic principles of the world, and not according to Christ.”
  • Deliver them from the agenda of the enemy for their congregations to remain in darkness by making them preach ideas, stories, philosophies and open unto them the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.
  • Have mercy Lord and let there be widespread repentance in the Churches in Nigeria.

Lord, Let there be…

Hymn: Christians Let’s Rise

Christians let's rise and take our place
In view of the mercy God's given
Offer up ourselves as living sacrifice
Holy and pleasing to our God

Christians let's rise, true worship God give
Conforming not to worldly pattern
But we be transformed, by renewing our minds
And filled with messages of the cross

Christians let's rise, God's will to do
By grace testify of His goodness
Not to be highly placed, than we ought to be
But sober in faith and love

Christians let's rise, forsaking our all
Reflecting on our wasted years
Open doors to plead, for great exploits of souls
Rooted and built in Christ our Lord

Christians let's rise, united in Christ
To labour in Spirit and Truth
As those crucified and raised with Christ
Awaiting the promised Home
