Nigeria: Pray the Lord of the Harvest

James 5:16b-18 (AMP)
“The heartfelt and persistent prayer of a righteous man (believer) can accomplish much [when put into action and made effective by God—it is dynamic and can have tremendous power]. 17 Elijah was a man with a nature like ours [with the same physical, mental, and spiritual limitations and shortcomings], and he prayed intensely for it not to rain, and it did not rain on the earth for three years and six months. 18 Then he prayed again, and the sky gave rain and the land produced its crops [as usual].”

Prayer Burden

·     Revival in Nigeria:
o   The complete gospel to be re-stated in the Church.
o   Unity of the Body of Christ.
o   Widespread knowledge of the mystery of the gospel through the Church.
o   National Repentance.
o   Great exploit of souls and multiplication of disciples in every place.
o   The establishment of the purpose of the mystery in every facet of life, reaching every citizen of Nigeria in every tribe and tongue.
o   Leaders that yield to the counsel of God and carry mind of Christ.
o   Righteousness to be established in the nation.

God’s Promises

Isaiah 60:22 (NKJV)
“A little one shall become a thousand, And a small one a strong nation.
I, the Lord, will hasten it in its time.”

Zechariah 4:6 (NKJV)
So he answered and said to me: “This is the word of the Lord to Zerubbabel:
‘Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit,’ Says the Lord of hosts.

Prayer for Ourselves

John 4:35-38 (TLB)
 35: Do you think the work of harvesting will not begin until the summer ends four months from now? Look around you! Vast fields of human souls are ripening all around us, and are ready now for reaping.
36: The reapers will be paid good wages and will be gathering eternal souls into the granaries of heaven! What joys await the sower and the reaper, both together!
37: For it is true that one sows and someone else reaps.
38: I sent you to reap where you didn’t sow; others did the work, and you received the harvest.”

(AMP)

38: I sent you to reap [a crop] for which you have not worked. Others have worked and you have been privileged to reap the results of their work.”

  • Death is the beginning of the life of a reaper after Your heart. Teach me, Holy Spirit, to reckon Your death as my death and Your divine new life as mine. Make me an instrument of Your glory.
  • Thank You for the hope I have in You, that if I have been united with You in the likeness of Your death, certainly I will also be united with You in the likeness of Your resurrection.
  • Lord, open my eyes to see the vast fields of human souls ready and waiting to hear the complete gospel that will bring revival, so that I would live a crucified life and cry to You with urgency.
  • Elijah was a man like me, who prayed intensely and got results. How much more now that the cross has happened and I have reckoned Christ’s death to be mine? Please make me intense in prayer for Your will to be done.
  • Grant me revelation knowledge that it is no longer I that is praying but Christ praying in me. Christ who: “…in the days of His flesh, when He had offered up prayers and supplications, with vehement [passionate, fervent, heated] cries and tears to Him…”
  • I plead with You on the basis to make my prayers effective, make it dynamic, make it have tremendous power.
  • Lord, please show me mercy that Your grace that I have received will not be wasted. Help me to know that it is a privilege for me to be included in the labour of gathering souls into heaven’s barns; to reap where others have sown.

Prayer for Nigeria

Matthew 9:35-38 (NKJV)
 35: Then Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every sickness and every disease among the people.
36: But when He saw the multitudes, He was moved with compassion for them, because they were weary and scattered, like sheep having no shepherd.
37: Then He said to His disciples, “The harvest truly is plentiful, but the laborers are few.
38: Therefore pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest.”

  • Let us pray to the Lord of the harvest to send out labourers into His harvest in Nigeria. The harvest is truly plentiful but the labourers are few.
  • Give Your disciples vision. Open their eyes to see the vast sea of souls, weary and scattered, seeking deliverance from sin’s tyranny. Give them Your compassion. Give them Your passion.
  • Hebrew 11:11 “By faith Sarah herself also received strength to conceive seed, and she bore a child when she was past the age, because she judged Him faithful who had promised.”
  • Lord, let Your labourers in Nigeria receive strength to conceive seed, to believe You, to judge You faithful, to trust You, even in the seemingly hopeless situation.
  • Genesis 1:28 “Then God blessed them, and God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion…”
  • Let disciples multiply in Nigeria. Let them be fruitful in proclaiming the gospel and in disciplemaking. Establish them in Your precise pattern. Let them be content with the simplicity of the gospel message.
  • Do not let them be overcome by the vastness of the challenge. Let them subdue and fill the nation with disciples after Your heart. Let a little one of them become a thousand.
  • Philippians 2:14-15 “Do all things without complaining and disputing, that you may become blameless and harmless, children of God without fault in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation, among whom you shine as lights in the world.”
  • 2 Corinthians 6:6 “By our purity, knowledge, patience, and kindness we have shown ourselves to be God's servants—by the Holy Spirit, by our true love, by our message of truth, and by the power of God.
  • Give courage to Your labourers to shine as lights in the nation in the midst of the perverseness and corruption. Let the noble, orderly, blameless and harmless life of Christ be clearly seen in them, that men may be drawn to You.
  • Grant that by their purity, knowledge, patience, kindness, true love and message of truth, they will show themselves to be those sent from the Lord of the Harvest.
  • Let us cry out to God for an increase in discipleship centres where lives can learn Christ and grow in conformity to his likeness.

Prayer for Asiri Ihinrere
The Mystery of the Gospel in Yoruba

Every Tuesday at 1.30pm
  • Let us thank the Lord for His mercy that has opened this great and effective door unto us to be labourers sent reap the souls of our elderly that are ripening all over Nigeria and gather them into His barn. Lord, we are grateful for this privilege.
  • Psalm 119:38 “Establish Your word to Your servant, Who is devoted to fearing You.”
  • Let us pray for all those who the Lord has drawn to the platform and those who are yet to come. Lord, establish them in the truth they are hearing. Let them lose taste for the old wine and become intoxicated with the new wine.
  • Lord, grant them grace to rise above the distractions in the nation and everything competing for their souls. Heal them from sickness and weakness in their bodies.
  • Help us as labourers to see how vital this labour is. Help us to labour in prayer, in laying down our lives for them practically for the sake of their growth.
  • 1 Thessalonians 1:15 “For our gospel did not come to you in word only, but also in power, and in the Holy Spirit and in much assurance…”
  • Let us pray for the meetings, that the gospel will come in power and in the Holy Spirit. Reveal it in the hearts of our elderly that they died on the cross with Christ.

Islamic Agenda in Nigeria

There are reports that the present government is pursuing an Islamic agenda, which has now affected the school curriculum.

Ezekiel 36:1-4 (NKJV)
 1 And you, son of man, prophesy to the mountains of Israel, and say, ‘O mountains of Israel, hear the word of the Lord!
Thus says the Lord God: “Because the enemy has said of you, ‘Aha! The ancient heights have become our possession,’”’
therefore prophesy, and say, ‘Thus says the Lord God: “Because they made you desolate and swallowed you up on every side, so that you became the possession of the rest of the nations, and you are taken up by the lips of talkers and slandered by the people”—
therefore, O mountains of Israel, hear the word of the Lord God! Thus says the Lord God to the mountains, the hills, the rivers, the valleys, the desolate wastes, and the cities that have been forsaken, which became plunder and mockery to the rest of the nations all around…”
5 therefore thus says the Lord God: “Surely I have spoken in My burning jealousy against the rest of the nations and against all Edom, who gave My land to themselves as a possession, with wholehearted joy and spiteful minds, in order to plunder its open country.”’
“Therefore prophesy concerning the land of Israel, and say to the mountains, the hills, the rivers, and the valleys, ‘Thus says the Lord God: “Behold, I have spoken in My jealousy and My fury, because you have borne the shame of the nations.”
Therefore thus says the Lord God: “I have raised My hand in an oath that surely the nations that are around you shall bear their own shame.
But you, O mountains of Israel, you shall shoot forth your branches and yield your fruit to My people Israel, for they are about to come.
For indeed I am for you, and I will turn to you, and you shall be tilled and sown.
10 I will multiply men upon you, all the house of Israel, all of it; and the cities shall be inhabited and the ruins rebuilt
11 I will multiply upon you man and beast; and they shall increase and bear young; I will make you inhabited as in former times, and do better for you than at your beginnings. Then you shall know that I am the Lord.
Prophesy to Nigeria and say, “O Nigeria, hear the word of the Lord...

Hymn: Dying with Jesus By Death Reckoned Mine
1.     Dying with Jesus, by death reckoned mine;
Living with Jesus, a new life divine;
Looking to Jesus till glory doth shine,
Moment by moment, O Lord, I am Thine.
Moment by moment I’m kept in His love;
Moment by moment I’ve life from above;
Looking to Jesus till glory doth shine;
Moment by moment, O Lord, I am Thine.
2.     Never a trial that He is not there,
Never a burden that He doth not bear,
Never a sorrow that He doth not share,
Moment by moment, I’m under His care.

3.     Never a heartache, and never a groan,
Never a teardrop and never a moan;
Never a danger but there on the throne,
Moment by moment He thinks of His own.

4.     Never a weakness that He doth not feel,
Never a sickness that He cannot heal;
Moment by moment, in woe or in weal,
Jesus my Savior, abides with me still.
