Regard Not The Things of the Past Concerning The New NIGERIA (1)

Join this HeartCry Prayer- Every Friday 11.30am-3.30pm (UK time)

 Isaiah 43:18-19 (NIV) – Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it shall spring up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.

Dearly Beloved, do you remember Isa 66:7-9 given to us by GOD at the birth of our new Nigeria? Remember our cry unto HIM after the inaugural and swearing-in ceremonies that occurred in the month of May 2015? Remember how we surrendered and commissioned to HIM through prayers the recently elected President, Vice-President and their entire cabinet members unto the Rock of Ages, since it will be Christ Jesus-in-charge upon them for the next 5years? Bear in mind our prayer that the gates of the enemy will no more prevail over this new nation, etc.?

Isaiah 43:18 says: – Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past… Why should we forget and not dwell with the past? Because dwelling on the past:
·         Causes stagnancy, being on one spot;
·         It hinders the manifestation of HIM who has proclaimed the Word;
·         Causes unbelief which does not make us to come into the rest that God promised us – For only we who believe GOD can enter into His place of rest. He has said, ”I have sworn in my anger that those who don’t believe me will never get in,” even though He has been ready and waiting for them since the world began (Hebrews 4:3)
·         Prevents reaching forward to what lies ahead – "Brethren, I do not regard myself as having laid hold of it yet; but one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and reaching forward to what lies ahead"(Philippians 3:13).
·         Makes us to see GOD as being “the GOD of then” and not “GOD of now” – JESUS Christ is the same yesterday, today and forever more (Hebrews 13:8)
·         Is in contrast to what GOD is seeing:
Revelation 21:3 – 4: “I heard a loud shout from the throne saying, “Look, the home of God is now among men, and he will live with them and they will be his people; yes, God himself will be among them. He will wipe away all tears from their eyes, and there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying, nor pain. All of that has gone forever.”

Prayer:
  • In accordance to Your Word O LORD over our new Nigeria, take away every unbelief and contradiction to your Word, bring our nation to the rest which you promised us; help us to see as you see and not to stand against Your plan and programme concerning Nigeria. O GOD of new beginning, let Your Spirit move in your majestic ways, so that men and women, old and young, boys and girls might come into the revelation of what You are able to do over Nigeria as a nation. Help Nigeria not to dwell in past glory anymore be it good or bad as it may seem, but help us Thou Redeemer, to reach forward to the Shekinah glory of yours, which you are abundantly able to unfold to the manifestation of your power over Nigeria, in the name of Jesus. Thank You for answering us beyond human reasoning.

 Isaiah 43: 19
See, I am doing a new thing! Now it shall springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland (desert).
To do a “new” thing, there must have been an “old” thing. From the above bible scriptures, there is a contrast of the past and the future. The LORD is not saying the past things are unimportant, but only that He is the Living GOD, and lives to make a difference in and over Nigeria. Are present and latest news concerning Nigeria’s problem still challenging our faith over His Word? News, (to mention few) like:

  • Boko Haram attacks (as Goliath?/Wall of Jericho?/Pharaoh?/Herod?) and Buhari’s promises of quick intervention in the North East of Nigeria;
  • Challenges as per Health sector/Education/Financial well-being /Unemployment etc.
  •  Other Federal and States parastatal issues, Economy, Infrastructures, Power, Oil and gas etc.

“See…I am doing       ...I am making
See… It seems to me that God is drawing our attention to testify in case we think that it cannot be done. God does not want us to be distracted. He wants us to learn, observe that it is not man that is doing and making the new things, but HIM at work. This is a privilege and humility on God’s part to us as co-labourers and Nigerians. To see is to behold, look upon, catch sight of…….GOD and not Mr. President or his associates…but see GOD at work. So, GOD is our pattern and standard.
Both words (“doing” and “making”) are present continuous verbs. To create or make something new is of GOD, not of any man/woman. They are wondrous things GOD has planned; they are impossible things for man but only GOD can do and make them-New things. Beloved, can you believe it? A road in the wilderness? River in the desert? Are you seeing GOD making road in the wilderness of Nigeria? (Road of infrastructure, employment, entrepreneurship, small-scale business) Are you beholding Him making waters even in the deserts of Nigeria? (Waters of peace, harmony, reconciliation, forgiveness and acceptance, righteousness and holiness) Is He not more than able to bend iron-like situations in Nigeria to suit His purpose? Our God is not in the business of doing “patch-patch”. He is not going to improve upon. He is not going to window dress. I am not talking about 2nd hand items (used products). He is going to be doing and making things, situations that men are unaccustomed with, i.e. brand new, fresh things. I mean new era!

Prayer points:
  •  Enlarge our hearts O Lord that we may rightly apprehend and comprehend your promises for Nigeria and its populace.
  • My Father and GOD, open the eyes of our leaders to see as you see. We no longer want to see men as trees. The Prophet Elisha prayed that God should open the eyes of his servant to see in order to believe. Therefore, O Lord, perfect our sight to see the invisible and the miraculous for our new Nigeria.
  •  Concerning your promises for Nigeria, Lord Jesus, I believe! Please help my (our) unbelief.
  • Daily consecrate our hearts LORD that we may rightly perceive your divine purpose for Nigeria in Jesus name.
  • Right from this platform and beyond, Holy Spirit begin to energise and create godly values, godly virtues and godly priorities, both to will and to do in the hearts of Nigerians both at home and in diaspora in Jesus name.
  • Unquestionable LORD, we rely on you on behalf of Nigeria, cause an irreversible change upon this nation, so that all men will know and acknowledge that You are GOD indeed.
  •  James 1:2-4 (KJV) – Let us ask GOD to lead Nigeria through every difficulties she may be facing or might face in future, seeing GOD doing the new things which shall spring up.
