Nigeria: Matters Arising

Join This HeartCry Prayer- Every Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday 11.30am -1.30pm (UK Time)

  • The Federal Government is currently executing projects from loans from Islamic banks, which are interest-free.
  • The President travelled to a few Islamic nations and also hosted some.
  • The responsibility of controlling and selling foreign exchange has shifted from the Central Bank of Nigeria to mostly black market operators (majorly controlled by northern Muslims).
  • There is a subtle but aggressive clamp down on freedom of the social media - three social bloggers were arrested for questioning because of their criticism of the government.
  • Security forces are yet to apprehend the culprits responsible for the mass killings of Christians in Benue, Kaduna and Enugu states.
  • Three Muslim men positively identified for beheading a Christian woman in Kano by her husband were discharged of the offence on the orders of the Attorney General.
  • El Rufai has threatened to arrest anyone who makes false allegations about the Kaduna killings.
  • In Port Harcourt, there has been an influx of young northerners taking up menial jobs that young southerners will not do, e.g. sellers and hawkers, drivers, security, water sellers etc.
Proverbs 22:7  - The rich rules over the poor, And the borrower is servant to the lender.
2 Thessalonians 2:7 - For the mystery of lawlessness is already at work; only He who now restrains will do so until He is taken out of the way.
  • Why does it look like the mystery of iniquity is gaining ground?
  • Where are those hosting the Holy Spirit in the nation of Nigeria?
  • What is stopping the mystery of iniquity from being restrained and crippled of its works and deeds in Nigeria?

HeartCry:

    1. That the LIGHT that is LIFE will be switched on, gain deep roots and intensified inside all believers in Nigeria. John 1:5 "And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not."
    2. That the Holy Spirit will not be relegated anymore in the life of all believers, but be active in dispelling darkness.
    3. For the waking up of all sleeping Peters, Pauls, Gideons, Deborahs e.t.c

  • John 1:14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth. Lord, let the life, nature and virtues of Jesus become flesh. Declutter us from accumulation of mere information and knowledge that does not translate to LIFE.
  • 1 Corinthians 1:18 For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.Lord, let the Message of the Cross be restated in our local assemblies and overwhelm fragmented or error messages.
  • Psalm 110:2-3a The Lord shall send the rod of thy strength out of Zion: rule thou in the midst of thine enemies. 3 Thy people shall be willing in the day of thy powerLord of the Harvest, please raise for Yourself and despatch across Nigeria- rods of thy strength OUT of Zion who will rule in the midst of darkness. Make Your own people willing in this DAY of thy power.
  • 2 Timothy 3:7 These weak women will listen to anybody who will teach them]; they are forever inquiring and getting information, but are never able to arrive at a recognition and knowledge of the Truth. Cure us of the ailment of always learning and hearing the WORD (JESUS) but never allowing JESUS to become flesh inside us.
  • Malachi 3:3 He will sit as a refiner and a purifier of silver; He will purify the sons of Levi, And purge them as gold and silver, That they may offer to the Lord An offering in righteousness. Lord, please let the full and complete Gospel be restated again throughout Nigeria. Producing disciples indeed emptied of Mr. Flesh rather than carnal followers who carry part Christ and part lower nature.

Nigeria: Standing on the Promises of God

Promises of God for Nigeria

Isaiah 60:18-22 KJV
18 Violence shall no more be heard in thy land, wasting nor destruction within thy borders; but thou shalt call thy walls Salvation, and thy gates Praise.
19 The sun shall be no more thy light by day; neither for brightness shall the moon give light unto thee: but the Lord shall be unto thee an everlasting light, and thy God thy glory. 20 Thy sun shall no more go down; neither shall thy moon withdraw itself: for the Lord shall be thine everlasting light, and the days of thy mourning shall be ended.
21 Thy people also shall be all righteous: they shall inherit the land for ever, the branch of my planting, the work of my hands, that I may be glorified.
22 A little one shall become a thousand, and a small one a strong nation: I the Lord will hasten it in his time.

We are standing on the promises of God which cannot fail.
By the living word of God, it shall prevail.

  • No matter the violence - it shall no more be heard in Nigeria.
  • No matter the wasting and destruction – there will be no more within Nigeria’s borders.
  • No matter the darkness – the Lord will be to Nigeria, an everlasting light and God will be her glory.
  • No matter the days of mourning – it shall be ended.
  • No matter the fragmented state of the church and religion – the people shall be all righteous. They shall inherit the land for ever. They will be the branch of God’s planting, the work of His hands, that He may be glorified.
  • No matter the scarcity of ‘little ones’ -  they will become a thousand and Nigeria will become a great nation.
  • No matter the opposition or resistance, the Lord will accelerate the fulfilment of His promises.

Through us...

2 Corinthians 1:20 NKJV
“For all the promises of God in Him are Yes, and in Him Amen, to the glory of God through us.”

2 Corinthians 1:24b NKJV
“For by faith you stand.”

The faith that stands on the promises of God:
Proclaims:
“I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me. (Galatians 2:20)

Knows by Revelation:
“He poured out His soul unto death, and He was numbered with the transgressors, and He bore the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors.” (Isaiah 53:12)

Prayer Points:  For Ourselves

  • Lord , give me a perspective of what you are saying concerning Nigeria so that I can demand for it.
  • Enlarge my heart; enlarge my capacity to believe You; enlarge my ability to retain Your Word in my inner man.
  • Reveal to me afresh, the Man of Calvary who poured His soul unto death; who humbled Himself to be numbered with the transgressors; who bore the sin of many; who made intercession for the transgressors.
  • Reveal to me afresh that my death with Christ on the cross has brought me by mercy into His intercession, through the help of the Holy Spirit.
  • Lord, help me to release my life as a vessel for Your intercession that I may be a channel of blessing to Nigeria. Please don’t let me disappoint You; You were not a disappointment to the Father.
  • Philippians 1:19-20 “For I know that this will turn out for my deliverance through your prayer and the supply of the Spirit of Jesus Christ, 20 according to my earnest expectation and hope that in nothing I shall be ashamed, but with all boldness, as always, so now also Christ will be magnified in my body, whether by life or by death.”

  •  Ask the Lord for the supply of the Spirit of Jesus Christ as we pray.

“...the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.” (Romans 8:26)

  • Let my earnest expectation be aligned with Your divine expectation, that in nothing we will be ashamed. Let Christ be magnified in my body.
  • Philippians 1:21-22a “For to me, to live is Christ, and to die is gain.22 But if I live on in the flesh, this will mean fruit from my labour;”

  • Ask the Lord to grant that for us to continue to live will mean Christ is the one living; will mean fruit from our labour.
  • Ask the Lord for fruit from our labour of prayer for Nigeria both here on the prayer platform and in our closers – prayer of intercession; prayer for revival.
  • Ask the Lord for strength to stand on His promises; grace to push through in prayer; praying without ceasing until we see what our eyes are longing for in our lives and in the nation of Nigeria.

  • Standing on the promises I shall not fall; List’ning every moment to the Spirit’s call; Resting in my Saviour as my All in all; Standing on the promises of God.

What are our eyes longing for on the basis of His promises for Nigeria?
Nigeria will be a nation where:

  • Souls will come to Christ daily through the preaching of the complete gospel and thousands of sinners will become converted.
  •  Disciples will grow to become saints.
  • Disciples will multiply and the life of Christ will find continuity from generation to generation.
  • The environment is conducive for each little one (i.e. disciple) to become a thousand.

Prayer for Souls

Isaiah 53:12
“He poured out His soul unto death, and He was numbered with the transgressors, and He bore the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors.” (Isaiah 53:12)

Isaiah 53:5-6
“All we like sheep have gone astray; We have turned, every one, to his own way;
And the Lord has laid on Him the iniquity of us all.”

1 Peter 2: 24-25
“...who Himself bore our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, having died to sins, might live for righteousness—by whose stripes you were healed.25 For you were like sheep going astray, but have now returned to the Shepherd and Overseer of your souls.”

Ezekiel 18:4
“Behold, all souls are Mine; The soul of the father as well as the soul of the son is Mine;

Prayer Points:

  • All souls belong to God. Let us join in the intercession of Jesus and plead with Him to have mercy all the transgressors – all those who live as though Jesus has not paid the price for their sinful nature.
  • “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they do.” (Luke 23:34)
  • Cause all the sheep that have gone astray in Nigeria (into other gospels, fragmented gospels, into idol worshipping), to come back to the Shepherd and Overseer of their souls.
  • Lord, You bore the sins of every soul in Nigeria in Your own body on the tree, that having died to sins, they might live for righteousness—by whose stripes you were healed. Let it be so, in Jesus’ name. Bring divine healing to the disease of the old man and all his wounds on the nation.
  • Let those in whom You have proclaimed the complete gospel begin to arise to preach it boldly all over Nigeria.
  • Let there be an awakening, let there be repentance, let there be a revival, let souls of men in Nigeria be converted by the power of the gospel of Jesus Christ.
  • Grant that souls will be saved daily through the preaching of the complete gospel. Let thousands of sinners will become converted.
  • Heal Nigeria according to Your promise. Deal with all the setbacks in the land and bring Nigeria under Your authority.
  • Holy Spirit, have Your way.

Prayer for Disciples

Colossians 2:18-19
“Let no one cheat you of your reward, taking delight in false humility and worship of angels, intruding into those things which he has not seen, vainly puffed up by his fleshly mind, 19 and not holding fast to the Head, from whom all the body, nourished and knit together by joints and ligaments, grows with the increase that is from God.”

Prayer Points:

  • Ask that disciples in Nigeria will stand on the premise of Christ and hold fast to the Head so that no one will cheat them of their reward.
  • Ask the Lord to cause them to grow to become saints.
  • Ask the Lord for the increase that is from God.
  • 2 Timothy 4:2-5 “Preach the word! Be ready in season and out of season. Convince, rebuke, exhort, with all longsuffering and teaching. For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers; and they will turn their ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to fables. But you be watchful in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry.
  • Ask the Lord to give us men and women who can preach the gospel in season and out of season, despite the volatile conditions in Nigeria.
  • Ask the Lord to grant that the disciple-making effort will be intensified in light of your promise that a little one will become a thousand. Make them the little ones with little strength, spineless and wholly reliant on You for mercy so You can apply Your multiplication factor.
  • Lord, give the disciples in Nigeria wisdom from above; reveal Your divine strategy to them; Help them to know what to do.
  • Lord, give us disciples that live by faith; disciples that have dealt with the matter of mammon in their lives; disciples who have been separated from lusts, dead works and sinful habits.
  • Give us disciples who will not twist the Word of God to suit their self life, but preach the Word in fullness and with boldness.
  • Give us disciples who will commit to the secret place of receiving God’s fire. Let the fire of God rage in their lives to consume all the hindrances set against them.
  • Lord! Let disciples in Nigeria multiply. Let the life of Christ will find continuity in them from generation to generation.
  • 1 Timothy 2:1-4 Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men, for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence. For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.
  • Pray for the atmosphere in Nigeria to be conducive for the life of Christ to continue.
    • The economy
    • The leaders
    • Pray for the healing of President Buhari.
    • Pray for the Vice President – Professor Yemi Osibajo.

.
HYMN: STANDING ON THE PROMISES

Standing on the promises of Christ my King,
Through eternal ages let His praises ring,
Glory in the highest, I will shout and sing,
Standing on the promises of God.

Standing, standing,
Standing on the promises of God my Saviour;
Standing, standing,
I’m standing on the promises of God.

2. Standing on the promises that cannot fail,
When the howling storms of doubt and fear assail,
By the living Word of God I shall prevail,
Standing on the promises of God.

3. Standing on the promises I now can see
Perfect, present cleansing in the blood for me;
Standing in the liberty where Christ makes free,
Standing on the promises of God.

4. Standing on the promises of Christ the Lord,
Bound to Him eternally by love’s strong cord,
Overcoming daily with the Spirit’s sword,
Standing on the promises of God.

5. Standing on the promises I shall not fall,
List’ning every moment to the Spirit’s call.
Resting in my Saviour as my All in all,
Standing on the promises of God.

Nigeria: Spirit of Faith Come Down

Faith is...

Hebrews 11:1
  • Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen – KJV
  • Now faith is the assurance (title deed, confirmation) of things hoped for (divinely guaranteed), and the evidence of things not seen [the conviction of their reality—faith comprehends as fact what cannot be experienced by the physical senses]. – AMP
  • Now faith means putting our full confidence in the things we hope for, it means being certain of things we cannot see. – PHILLIPS

What is our hope for Nigeria?

  • Violence shall no more be heard in Nigeria.
  • There will be no more wasting or destruction at Nigeria’s borders.
  • Nigeria’s walls shall be called Salvation and Her gates praise.
  • The Lord will be Nigeria’s everlasting light and God will be her glory.
  • The Body of Christ in Nigeria shall be all righteous.
  • A little one of the disciples of Jesus Christ will become a thousand; a small one a great nation.

Again God said in Isaiah 55:10-12 (AMP):

“For as the rain and snow come down from heaven,
And do not return there without watering the earth,
Making it bear and sprout,
And providing seed to the sower and bread to the eater,
So will My word be which goes out of My mouth;
It will not return to Me void (useless, without result),
Without accomplishing what I desire,
And without succeeding in the matter for which I sent it.

All of these promises have been signed by God.
On God’s side – It’s already a done deal,
On our side –We need the Spirit of faith to give us eyes of faith. We need the Spirit of Christ to reveal the unseen.

Spirit of Faith, Come down upon Us

Matthew 9:27-29 NKJV
"When Jesus departed from there, two blind men followed Him, crying out and saying, “Son of David, have mercy on us!” And when He had come into the house, the blind men came to Him. And Jesus said to them, “Do you believe that I am able to do this?
They said to Him, “Yes, Lord.”Then He touched their eyes, saying,
According to your faith let it be to you.”

The Lord is asking us the same question: Do we believe that He is able to do this?
We too say “Yes Lord”, but it is according to our faith that it will be to us.

Prayer Points: Spirit of Faith, Come down upon Us
  • Lord, I believe You are able to do this in Nigeria.
  • Please touch my eyes afresh and help me to see Your divine possibilities.
  • Spirit of faith, please give me eyes of faith.
  • Let my eyes be the kind that does not look Nigeria’s past – her past failures, past corrupt reputation, past struggles, past hardship and even past glories – but let it be eyes that sees the unseen; eyes that only see Nigeria in light of Your promises for her.
  • Lift me up above my current experience of Nigeria and simply take You at Your Word.
  • When You say,  “Launch out into the deep and let your nets down for a catch,” Like the experienced fisherman that Simon Peter was, let our response also be, “Nevertheless at Your Word, I will let down the net.” Luke 5:5.
  • Be Thou my vision, O Lord of my life – vision that sees every promise as divinely guaranteed and gives us full assurance of faith.
  • Help us to hold fast the confession of our hope for Nigeria without wavering for He who promised is faithful. Hebrews 10:23.
  • John 9:39-41: And Jesus said, “For judgment I have come into this world, that those who do not see may see, and that those who see may be made blind.”Then some of the Pharisees who were with Him heard these words, and said to Him, “Are we blind also?”Jesus said to them, “If you were blind, you would have no sin; but now you say, ‘We see.’ Therefore your sin remains.
  • Deliver us from saying,  ‘We see’ when we do not see, or when it is vague. Grant us the humility to draw near with a true heart to acknowledge our spiritual blindness so that mercy will come to us. Lord, please show us Your mercy.
  • Root out everything that opposes the Spirit of faith from our midst – unbelief, mammon, presumption, fear, timidity, disobedience.
  • “...the veil is taken away in Christ.”  2 Corinthians 3:14.
  • Help us to know that the cross must painfully tear way the veil of the life of sin and self from us; and it will bleed. Only then can we enter into the presence of the living God to pray down His will.
  • Lord! Please give us the courage to insist on the crucified life.

Seen Versus Unseen

2 Corinthians 4:18 - While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal.

Unseen: Violence shall no more be heard in Nigeria
Violence shall no more be heard in thy land, wasting nor destruction within thy borders; but thou shalt call thy walls Salvation, and thy gates Praise.  Isaiah 60:18.

 Seen: Kidnapping
There has been a rapid growth in the kidnapping of babies, children and adults. This situation so acute that is giving a lot of concern to the people.  It has also become a daily occurrence.

Nevertheless, this is What the Lord said:

Matthew 16:9 - And I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.  - NKJV

I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; the things you don’t allow on earth will be the things that God does not allow, and the things you allow on earth will be the things that God allows.”  - NCV

God has given us the authority to disallow on the earth the things that He does not allow and to allow on earth the things that He allows.

Prayer Points: Violence shall no more be heard in Nigeria
  • Psalm 72:12-14a - “For He will deliver the needy when he cries, the poor also, and him who has no helper.  He will spare the poor and needy, And will save the souls of the needy.  He will redeem their life from oppression and violence...”
  • Lord, we believe You, that despite all the kidnapping occurrences all over the nation, violence will no more be heard within the borders of Nigeria because You have declared it.
  • You have declared that there will be no more wasting or destruction. Let it be so in Jesus’ mighty name.
  • By Your Spirit, the kidnapping incidents in Nigeria has been declared stopped and we believe You. Please bring Your healing and restoration families that have been affected.
  • O Lord, be the help of the victims. Deliver them from the hand of their oppressors and save their souls according to Your Word.
  • O Lord, be the help of the victims. Deliver them from the hand of their oppressors and save their souls according to Your Word.
  • Let Your gospel reach the ears of all the kidnappers in Nigeria, and let it affect their hearts. Deliver them from oppression and violence by the power of the cross and restore them to Your purpose.
  • We agree with You, Lord. Nigeria’s walls will be called ‘Salvation’ and her gates ‘Praise’.
  • Spirit of faith, descend upon Nigeria and show the virtue of Your name; impart Your saving power and speak to every heart. Violence shall no more be heard in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Unseen: The Lord will be to Nigeria an everlasting Light.
The sun shall be no more thy light by day; neither for brightness shall the moon give light unto thee: but the Lord shall be unto thee an everlasting light, and thy God thy glory. 20 Thy sun shall no more go down; neither shall thy moon withdraw itself: for the Lord shall be thine everlasting light, and the days of thy mourning shall be ended. Isaiah 60: 19-20.

Seen: Darkness in the economy and in the Government of Nigeria.
The economy is erratic and exchange rates are an all-time high. The government’s decision making also generates concern with the people.

Prayer Points: The Lord will be to Nigeria an everlasting Light
  • Proverbs 21:11 -The king’s heart is in the hand of the Lord, like the rivers of water; He turns it wherever He wishes.
  • Lord, shed Your everlasting light on every decision made in that the office of the president, in the senate, in the house of representatives - be according to the divine counsel of heaven for Nigeria, even if the leaders are not aware of it.
  • Let Your everlasting Light will guide the affairs of the economy, not human wisdom. We ask, O Lord, for You to miraculously stabilise the economy. Continue to expose with Your everlasting light, all those who waste or steal from the public purse.
  • Please Lord, turn the hearts of the President and Vice President towards Your desire for Nigeria. Cause them to fear You. Put Your fear in the hearts of every government leader.
  • Lord, please shine Your everlasting light upon President Buhari. Go to the root of his health issues, take control and heal him completely so that He can return to Nigeria.
Unseen: Your people in Nigeria shall be all righteous
Thy people also shall be all righteous: they shall inherit the land for ever, the branch of my planting, the work of my hands, that I may be glorified. Isaiah 60:21.

Seen: Many Churches are not on the path of righteousness
Many churches have leaders that are not in right standing with God and as such are unable to preach the complete Gospel.

Prayer Points: The Lord will be to Nigeria an everlasting Light
  • Lord! Visit Your church in Nigeria.
  • Purge Your Church, O Lord. Wash away all the things that do not allow You to be glorified and revive Your Church.
  • We look to You for correct churches founded on the complete Gospel, where men will serve You aright and will all be righteous.
  • Lord, give us correct pastors and leaders who will preach the correct message the correct way so that the body can be correct and all righteous.
  • Give us pastors and leaders who are not money conscious but kingdom conscious; those who are the branch of Your planting and the work of Your hands.
  • Spirit of faith, come down upon the church in Nigeria.
  • Come and reveal the things of God and make the Godhead known. Come in Your power and make the Christ and Him Crucified Known in every place.
  • You died for every sinner in Nigeria. Please apply the blood and give them eyes to see that You have brought them into Your new covenant. Deliver Your people from the old covenant – i.e the kind gospel that does not dislodge sin in their lives.
Unseen: A little one shall become a thousand
A little one shall become a thousand, and a small one a strong nation: I the Lord will hasten it in his time. Isaiah 60:22.

Seen: Disciples are not multiplying  as expected
There is a shortage of committed kingdom labourers who carry a burden for disciple-making.
  • Revelations 3:8-9 - I know your works. See, I have set before you an open door, and no one can shut it;for you have a little strength, have kept My word, and have not denied My name. Indeed I will make those of the synagogue of Satan, who say they are Jews and are not, but lie—indeed I will make them come and worship before your feet, and to know that I have loved you.
  • Lord, help disciples in Nigeria to keep Your word and never deny Your name.  Give them the tenacity in seeking You even in their little strength.
  • Set before the disciples in Nigeria an open door that no one can shut - open doors for the gospel message to be preached in fullness, so that the spirit of faith can come upon the souls of men.
  • Make those in the ‘synagogue of Satan’ come through these open doors. Call them from every street to come and worship at Your feet.
  • Grant divine help and wisdom to the disciples for disciple-making.
  • Let disciples multiply - let a little one of them become a thousand.

HYMN: SPIRIT OF FAITH COME DOWN

1. Spirit of faith, come down,
reveal the things of God,
and make to us the Godhead known,
and witness with the blood.
'Tis thine the blood to apply
and give us eyes to see,
who did for every sinner die
hath surely died for me.

2. No one can truly say
that Jesus is the Lord,
unless Thou take the veil away
and breathe the living Word.
Then, only then, we feel
our interest in His blood,
and cry with joy unspeakable,
"Thou art my Lord, my God!"

3. O that the world might know
the all atoning Lamb!
Spirit of faith, descend and show
the virtue of His name;
the grace which all may find,
the saving power, impart,
and testify to humankind,
and speak in every heart.

4. Inspire the living faith
(which whosoe'er receive,
the witness in themselves they have
and consciously believe),
the faith that conquers all,
and doth the mountain move,
and saves whoe'er on Jesus call,
and perfects them in love.

Nigeria: My Beloved Country

Isaiah 45:1-7 NKJV

This Scripture is said to be the only place in the Bible where a Gentile ruler is referred to as ‘anointed’. This is God working through a Gentile king who does not know Him. (vs. 4)

Cyrus, God’s Instrument
God chose and anointed Cyrus as His vessel to conquer many lands.

Job Description
God told Cyrus what he would do (for it is God who works in you both to will and to do of His good pleasure. Philippians 2:13)
  • Subdue nations before him.
  • Loose the armour of kings.
  • Open before him the double doors, so that the gates will not be shut.
His Promises
  • I will go before you.
  • I will make crooked places straight.
  • I will break in pieces the gates of bronze, cut the bars of iron.
  • I will give you treasures of darkness, hidden riches of secret places.
  • I will gird you, though you have not known me.

Why?
  • For Jacob My servant’s sake.
  • For Israel My elect.

Assurance / Conviction
How did God build up Cyrus’ faith?
  • I, the Lord who call you by your name, am the God of Israel.(vs.3)
  • I have even called you by your name. (vs.4)
  • I have named you, though you have not known me.

Revelation of His Personality
I am the Lord, there is no other. (vs. 5 and 6)
There is no God besides Me.

His Ability
What this God that Cyrus does not know, can do.
  • Forms the light and creates darkness.
  • Makes peace and creates calamity.

I, THE LORD, DO ALL THESE THINGS.

Esther 8:7-8 NKJV
  • God knew one day that someone will plan to exterminate Jews.
  • Queen Vashti misbehaved and lost her position.
  • Esther ended up in the palace (The result of deliberate, committed, concerted practical discipleship).
  • When the time came for help to answer the “Cry of the Jews”, Esther was already positioned to rise.
  • We see Esther and Mordecai being asked to write a decree.
We also believe God that, whatever we decree concerning Nigeria today, according to the will of our Father in heaven, will receive His seal and no man can reverse it. Amen and amen, so shall it be.

We thank God who graciously, in His mercy, gave us this platform to intercede for Nigeria.

So far on this platform, we have noted that:-
  • The battle is firstly the Lord’s; we are channels only for Him to work through.
  • We wanted to engage God for Nigeria (i.e. to occupy or attract His attention).
  • We desire to know His heart, His will for Nigeria so we can pray according to His will.
  • The Holy Spirit is the one who will intercede for us.
  • It is God’s desire for each one of us to develop a burden for Nigeria.
  • We desire to see His plan and purpose come to pass over Nigeria and we release ourselves as vessels through which He will move.

Every promise in Scripture requires a man to step into it. A man/woman must position himself/herself to receive it.

Prayer for Ourselves

Here am I use me
Here am I use me
As the Lord need somebody
Here am I use me
  • Lord, settle me in a consistent practical discipleship relationship.
  • Father, make me a man/woman of faith; let faith arise in me. BE GONE unbelief.
  • Help me to carry a heart of assurance that what You have spoken is done.
  • Let me be convinced of the reality of that which You are yet to do.
  • Lord, make me a man/woman with clean hands and a pure heart who has neither lifted his/her soul to an idol nor sworn deceitfully; this is the person “who can ascend unto Your hill.” Psalm 24:3-4
  • Make me the man/woman You are looking for to be the answer to the cry of our nation.
  • Let Jesus be seen in me; let every segment of the Mystery of the Gospel work upon my life.
  • For entrance to be supplied to us abundantly into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, we need to pray: Lord, let me be diligent to make my calling and election sure so that I do not stumble. Peter 2:10

Prayer for the Productive Generation

Genesis 18:19
For I have known him, in order that he may command his children and his household after him, that they keep the way of the Lord, to do righteousness and justice, that the Lord may bring to Abraham what He Has spoken to him.

Here we see God’s testimony concerning Abraham. God does not take the matter of children and building the next generation lightly.

In Judges 2:7-10, we see in vs 10, “...another generation arose after them who did not know the Lord nor the work which He had done for Israel.

There is a need for us to pray for these ones because whatever is written on the tablets of their hearts today determines what they will manifest in their character in years to come.

What we see in Nigeria today is the product of what was written in the tablets of the hearts of some our leaders when they were in their youth.
  • Father, envision men/women who will write eternity in the hearts of the younger generation in Nigeria today (teachers, lecturers, professors).
  • Whatever is wrongly written already in some of their lives, Lord, please correct it.
  • Take away whatever some of these teachers themselves may be struggling with that will not give them the boldness/courage to confront evil in the lives of the children/youth.
  • Lord, every accursed thing of the Western world that has evaded the society in Nigeria, please remove them by Your mercy.
  • Because of the destiny placed in the heart of Daniel, he lived a life characterised by purpose, prayer, perception and power. Father, let our young ones begin to live a purposeful life by the power embedded in the Mystery of the Gospel.
  • Lord, we pray that hunger for concerted, consistent, deliberate discipleship will break forth amongst the young generation in Nigeria.

Prayer for the Church

1 Corinthians 1:3
“To the Church of God in Corinth, to those who are sanctified in Christ Jesus, called to be saints, with all who in every place call on the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, both theirs and ours...”
  • Lord, let Your children in Nigerian churches know that they are sanctified in Christ Jesus; their first calling is ‘to be saints’ and they gather to call on the name of the Lord Jesus Christ our Lord, not any man or woman.
  • Lord, silence all men who are exalting themselves above You in the lives of the people you died for.
  • Father, let the message of the Cross spread throughout the Church (every denomination) in Nigeria.
  • Let, Your children begin to thirst and hunger for Your righteousness again.
  • Grant them boldness to arise and confront heresies and false doctrines.
  • Cause Your Church to be united to combat every onslaught of the enemy in the name of Jesus.
  • Lord, make Your children true followers of the Lord Jesus Christ, who are ready and willing to deny themselves, take up their cross daily and follow Jesus only.
  • Strengthen every revival labourer in Nigeria; those who are working to make Your kingdom come and Your will be done in Nigeria.

Prayer for Nigeria
  • Father, please make NIGERIA an object of Your mercy and favour.
  • Keep Nigeria, permanently in Your ICU-Intensive Care Unit.
  • Lord, a divine pronouncement has been made concerning this nation. Father, we thank You.
  • We pray You will silence every other pronouncement that did not emanate from the throne of grace.
  • Lord, the only person You are looking for is JESUS! May You find Him in our leaders, in every facet of our human lives.
  • Lord, we pray that You will breathe Your righteousness into our leaders and every facet of our society.
  • Turn around the economy /currency for good, Father.
  • Frustrate every activity and every plan of all terrorist groups. Dry up the source of their funding and power in Jesus’ name.
  • Pray as led by His Spirit.
