Europe: Give Me This Mountain –
The European Church

“Do this in remembrance of Me.”

Luke 22: 14-21, vs.19b

14 When the hour [for the meal] had come, Jesus reclined at the table, and the apostles with Him. 15 He said to them, “I have earnestly wanted to eat this Passover with you before I suffer; 16 for I say to you, I will not eat it again until it is fulfilled in the kingdom of God.” 17 And when He had taken a cup and [c]given thanks, He said, “Take this and share it among yourselves; 18 for I say to you, I will not drink of the fruit of the vine from now on until the kingdom of God comes.” 19 And when He had taken bread and given thanks, He broke it and gave it to them, saying, “This is My body which is given for you; do this in remembrance of Me.”20 And in the same way He took the cup after they had eaten, saying, “This cup, which is poured out for you, is the new covenant [ratified] in My blood.

What did Jesus ask us to remember?

v  His body given for us.
v  His blood poured out for us.

But instead, the church is celebrating Christmas with elements from various pagan religions from Europe.

v  Going back to the spread of Christianity in the 1st century, Europe was significant in the spread of the gospel.
v  The early Christians did not actually celebrate the birth of Jesus. The death of Jesus was such a reality to them that there was no need for this. After all, you cannot record a death before birth!
v  The death of a saint was instead celebrated. Paul even admonished us to not mourn as those who have no hope concerning loved ones who died in Christ, as they will return with Christ at the second coming (1 Thessalonians 4:13-14).
v  Christmas was not celebrated until 356 A.D. This was a time when there was a lot of heresies and unbelief in Christ and the Church wanted to try and correct this.
v  However, they chose a time which coincided with other pagan festivals.
v  These festivals were usually filled with rowdiness, drunkenness and more.
v  By the 8th century, Christmas was well and truly celebrated in Europe.
v  Some of the elements of these festivals from different parts of Europe (live green trees indoors – German, Yule log – Sweden, Mistletoe – Sweden, excess indulgence in meat and wine – Santa Claus – Turkey) have now been incorporated into modern Christmas celebrations.
v  However, some Christians of old have opposed it. Most especially the Puritans who banned it in New England, USA between 1659 and 1681.

How did the European Church get here?
As Christianity was passed on from one generation to another, an error occurred in the passing on of the “baton”.
Let’s go back to the beginning:

The Passover

Exodus 12:43-50

43 The Lord said to Moses and Aaron, “This is the ordinance of the Passover: no [h]foreigner is to eat it; 44 but every man’s slave who is bought with money, after you have circumcised him, then he may eat it.45 No stranger (temporary resident, foreigner) or hired servant shall eat it. 46 It is to be eaten inside one house; you shall not take any of the meat outside the house, nor shall you break any of its bones. 47 The entire congregation of Israel shall keep and celebrate it. 48 If a stranger living temporarily among you wishes to celebrate the Passover to the Lord, all his males must be circumcised, and then he may participate and celebrate it like one that is born in the land. But no uncircumcised person may eat it. 49 The same law shall apply to the native-born and to the stranger who lives temporarily among you.”
50 Then all the Israelites did so; they did just as the Lord had commanded Moses and Aaron. 51 And on that very same day the Lord brought the Israelites out of the land of Egypt by their hosts (tribal armies).

The Holy Communion

1 Corinthians 11: 23-30

v  God commanded the Israelites not to allow strangers to partake of the Passover.
v  Males partaking must be circumcised.
v  It signified the covenant of their liberty into freedom.
v  We see the covenant of the “Passover” is fulfilled in Christ as the ultimate sacrifice for sins setting us free from the dictates of the old man.
v  To eat at the “Table of the Lord” is to remember the death of Christ as Jesus asked us too.
v  Anyone who has not been to Calvary is a stranger to the body of Christ and cannot take part with a reverent heart. They have not been set apart unto the Lord. This is why the Lord commanded that strangers should not take part in the Passover.
v  It seemed like the Corinthian Church had forgotten the essence of the Lord’s Table and no longer giving it the honour it deserved.
v  When we have truly been to Calvary, seen the nails on our Saviour’s hands and feet, seen the blood divine gushing from His side, we eat at the Lord’s Table with a heart indebted to such love our Saviour showed us!
v  Paul explained the implications of not approaching the “Table of the Lord” with reverence. These include sickness and deaths.
v  When the Lord gave the commandment of the Passover, He also commanded the Israelites not to have anything to do with the gods of the land  that they will be possessing.
v  Paul explicitly reminded the Corinthian Church of the need to be SEPARATE unto the Lord. What agreement has the temple of God with idols? (2 Corinthians 6:16-17).

In summary, the European Church lost its way as the baton of the “old man” and not a Calvary life was passed on. This occurred as a lack of SEPARATION from the unclean thing. From the mixing of the Temple of God with idols.

The Lord has said: “A little one of shall become a thousand, and a small one a strong nation.” (Isaiah 60:22). If all who have not bowed to Baal can receive COURAGE and be SEPARATE to be TRUE WITNESSES indeed there will an ARMY ready join in the battle for souls of men in the continent of Europe!!!!

Prayers for Our Lives

v  Lord, Jesus, thank You for Your body that was broken for me. Thank You for going through the agony on the cross for me.
v  Lord, Jesus, thank You for Your blood that was poured as a drink offering in exchange for my life.
v  Lord, have mercy upon me wherever I may have unknowingly despised Your death.
v  Lord, may I always remember Your death. Keep me near the cross, O my Lord. May I not glory in anything except in the cross of my Lord (Galatians 6.14).
v  Lord, may I continually hear the echo of Your roar which is Your true gospel that transformed me from the prey to the victor! (Amos 3:8).
v  Thank you Jesus for YourWord that came at the Ministers Leaders Retreat that: “A little one will become a great nation.” Lord cause me to arise with COURAGE and be SEPARATE unto you for the harvest of souls.

Prayers for Our Families

v  Even as Joshua declared that as for him and his family they will serve the Lord; Lord, Jesus, we declare that we will strive until our family members come to Calvary receiving the complete gospel.
v  Even if they think that we are beside ourselves, that the love of Christ will compel us to continue to labour for their souls (2 Corinthians 5:13-15). Our Lord despised the shame of the cross, drank our cup of iniquity and went to the cross (Hebrews 12:2, John 18:11). No matter the ridicule, oppression O Lord, we will strive until they come to fountain of blood!
v  In this time of festivities, we will glory only in the cross of Christ. Give us the wisdom to teach our children to only glory in the cross of Christ. Even as Peter admonished us to always have an answer for what we believe in, Lord, help us to teach our children how to only glory in the cross of Christ in ways they can understand.

Prayers for the European Church

v  We thank you for the continent of Europe.
v  We thank you for its strategic position in the world, connecting all the other continents.
v  We thank you for Your saints of old whom you used to spread the message of the cross.
v  Lord, Jesus we ask you to have mercy on the European Church.
v  Restore the complete gospel unto the European Church. Let the power of Your precious blood that was shed for Your ransomed church save them from sin.
v  We ask for courage and boldness for Your saints who have not bowed down to Baal. Strengthen them to endure to the end, O God.
v  Let them know they are not alone. Assure them of the “7000” that have not bowed down (1 Kings 19:18). Let them become nations in the European Church.

Prayers for Europe

v  Lord, Jesus we ask that You strengthen Your true witnesses in the power of Your might, that they may be able to put on the whole armour of God to stand against the wiles of the evil one (Ephesians 6:10 -11).
v  We ask that the complete Mystery of the Gospel will be the full armour for Your witnesses called to Europe. The revelation of this mystery will be the breastplate of righteousness; truth in the Mystery of the Gospel will gird their waist; they will wear the gospel for their feet with the shield of faith in the mysterious gospel to quench the fiery darts of the wicked one (Ephesians 6:14-16).
v  We declare that JESUS is the LIGHT over Europe. Lord, we ask you raise children that are of the DAY to shine your LIGHT over Europe (1 Thessalonians 5:4-5).
v  Raise ‘Josiahs’ that will say NO to ungodliness and PULL DOWN all the false altars in our time! (2 Chronicles 34:7).
v  Give this continent a heart of flesh. Remove their stony heart so that they can see the need of a saviour (Ezekiel 36).
v  As many as You have called to be witnesses to this continent, Lord, cause them to “Arise and Shine for your glory is upon them”. Even though the continent seems so entrenched in darkness, Lord, Your Light and Glory will be over Your witnesses (Isaiah 60:1-2).

Join this HeartCry Prayer- Every Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday 11.30am -1.30pm (UK time)

A Harvest of Souls for the Kingdom of God

Scriptures: Acts 8:1-8, 26-39

Acts 8:1-8 (KJV)
And Saul was consenting unto his death. And at that time there was a great persecution against the church which was at Jerusalem; and they were all scattered abroad throughout the regions of Judaea and Samaria, except the apostles.
And devout men carried Stephen to his burial, and made great lamentation over him.
As for Saul, he made havock of the church, entering into every house, and haling men and women committed them to prison.
Therefore they that were scattered abroad went every where preaching the word.
Then Philip went down to the city of Samaria, and preached Christ unto them.
And the people with one accord gave heed unto those things which Philip spake, hearing and seeing the miracles which he did.
For unclean spirits, crying with loud voice, came out of many that were possessed with them: and many taken with palsies, and that were lame, were healed.
And there was great joy in that city.

Notes:
  • Although it may have been seen that the believers where persecuted and where fleeing but they preached the Gospel everywhere they went.
  • They would have been refugees in other countries, but this did not stop them in preaching the gospel.
  • Not all fled. The apostles remained. Even so in our current time, not all who are persecuted will flee their nations.

Migration and the Gospel in UK/Europe
  • Today we will be using UK as a contact to the continent of Europe. There is currently an influx of migrants from Asia, Middle-East and Eastern Europe.
  • The current migrant crisis in Europe brings an opportunity for people to hear the gospel for the first time.
  • It is important for people to encounter the true gospel, especially since most of them are vulnerable.
  • Even non-Christians can spot a fragmented gospel; this is one of the reasons many do not want to have anything to do with the “church”.
  • While Europe is one of the most secular continents of our generation, UK is one of the most secular countries in Europe.
  • Not all migrants are faithless. Some of the Middle-Eastern migrants are Middle-Eastern Orthodox who need a COMPLETE GOSPEL and need to break from the hold of RELIGION and DENOMINATION.
  • Many are shocked when they realise that the indigenous people of UK are so removed from Christianity.
  • The Pentecostal churches do not always give them a “home from home”. So they end up in the traditional orthodox churches and eventually look to have their own buildings and community.
  • While some flee persecution, others are still being persecuted in those countries.

Prayers:
  • The truth of gospel that changes and transform lives will encounter these hungry people.
  • We will not look to build community but violently recover the souls of men at Calvary.
  • We will surrender our lives to be built up as “pillars” and “rods of His strength” so that we can recover souls of men at Calvary.
  • Economic growth and personal comfort will not be hindrances to those who fled persecution from their countries but instead they will look to harvest souls for the Kingdom like the believers of old.
  • For those who have not fled persecution, the Lord will make them true martyrs and witnesses for His Kingdom in their home countries.
  • Ask the Lord to break the hold of religion and denomination in the UK and beyond.

Acts 8: 26 - 39
26 And the angel of the Lord spake unto Philip, saying, Arise, and go toward the south unto the way that goeth down from Jerusalem unto Gaza, which is desert.
27 And he arose and went: and, behold, a man of Ethiopia, an eunuch of great authority under Candace queen of the Ethiopians, who had the charge of all her treasure, and had come to Jerusalem for to worship,
28 Was returning, and sitting in his chariot read Esaias the prophet.
29 Then the Spirit said unto Philip, Go near, and join thyself to this chariot.
30 And Philip ran thither to him, and heard him read the prophet Esaias, and said, Understandest thou what thou readest?
31 And he said, How can I, except some man should guide me? And he desired Philip that he would come up and sit with him.
32 The place of the scripture which he read was this, He was led as a sheep to the slaughter; and like a lamb dumb before his shearer, so opened he not his mouth:
33 In his humiliation his judgment was taken away: and who shall declare his generation? for his life is taken from the earth.
34 And the eunuch answered Philip, and said, I pray thee, of whom speaketh the prophet this? of himself, or of some other man?
35 Then Philip opened his mouth, and began at the same scripture, and preached unto him Jesus.
36 And as they went on their way, they came unto a certain water: and the eunuch said, See, here is water; what doth hinder me to be baptized?
37 And Philip said, If thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest. And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God.
38 And he commanded the chariot to stand still: and they went down both into the water, both Philip and the eunuch; and he baptized him.
39 And when they were come up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord caught away Philip, that the eunuch saw him no more: and he went on his way rejoicing.
40 But Philip was found at Azotus: and passing through he preached in all the cities, till he came to Caesarea.

Notes:
  • Some of the people fleeing their countries, are “middle-class” and sometimes men of importance in their home countries.
  • Some may have encountered the gospel but no one to help them rightly divide the word of truth.
  • Even though the eunuch never saw Philip again, he experienced an exchange of life and he could go away spreading this joy.
  • Philip was obedient to the Holy Spirit and so He was lead to where to minister.
  • Philip could have wanted to stay and build a thriving church/community but the Spirit of the Lord took Him away.
  • Every village he passed through heard the good news.

Prayers:
  • Holy Spirit, guide my path.
  • Lord Jesus, as you live in me, give me the words to speak and let me know when to speak and to whom to speak it to.
  • Lord, give me the courage to go immediately when you instruct and not delay.
  • As people journey in and out of the UK and Europe at large, let your true gospel transform lives.

Nigeria: Occupy Till I Come - Bring Back Our King!

Join this HeartCry Prayer- Every Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday 11.30am -1.30pm (UK time)

The News from Nigeria
  • Nehemiah heard about the distress, affliction, trouble, disgrace, appalling physical, emotional, financial, dangerous conditions of the remnant in Jerusalem and broke down in deep repentance and intercession.
  • Ezra heard about the sin, iniquity, transgression, immorality, decadence, disobedience, wickedness, rebellion of the whole land and he also broke down in repentance and intercession.
  • Hear the news from Nigeria, hear the news of what is happening to our people, the suffering the pain, the agony, the inequality, the pain, the distress, the hunger, the cry, the suffering, problems plaguing the majority of families, young, old, elderly, students, workers, in our nation.
We have wearied God with our sins…

Micah 3:6 & 7a

O my people, what have I done unto thee? and wherein have I wearied thee? testify against me. For I brought thee up out of the land of Egypt, and redeemed thee out of the house of servants (AKJV).

“Dear people, how have I done you wrong? Have I burdened you, worn you out? Answer! I delivered you from a bad life in Egypt; I paid a good price to get you out of slavery (MSG).

Isaiah 43:24

Thou hast bought me no sweet cane with money, neither hast thou filled me with the fat of thy sacrifices: but thou hast made me to serve with thy sins, thou hast wearied me with thine iniquities (AKJV).

You wouldn’t even bring sheep for offerings in worship. You couldn’t be bothered with sacrifices. It wasn’t that I asked that much from you. I didn’t expect expensive presents. But you didn’t even do the minimum— so stingy with me, so closefisted. Yet you haven’t been stingy with your sins. You’ve been plenty generous with them—and I’m fed up (MSG).

Prayer points| Confession on behalf of the church
  • Lord, we have dealt terribly with You and Your people, we have wearied You with our iniquities and disobeyed Your commands.
  • We have replaced the worship of our God with the worship of money.
  • We have defiled the offerings of the Lord and corrupted His sacrifices, our leaders like wolves have devoured your people all in the name of Jesus.
  • We have turned the temple into business and empire building, and made merchandise of the people of God.
  • We have turned the gospel to be a means of gain, and made our God appear as a weakling.
  • We have misrepresented You, we have given occasion for Your enemies  to blaspheme You and spit in Your face.
  • We have denied the cross, we have trampled upon the sacrifice of our Lord.
  • We have cut off the toes of the people of God so that they have become incompetent in their profession as Christians.
  • Our iniquities have risen up to You as a stench, our transgressions and our bloodshed are crying out for vengeance and retribution.
  • The word “born again” has become a odour in the whole land.
  • We have sold our souls to satan, we have joined hand and connived with Your enemies against You and we have done it in the name of Jesus.
  • We have gone AWOL pursuing assets instead of ACCESS to you, gold instead of GOD, cash instead of the CROSS, dollars instead of DISCIPLESHIP.
  • We have left our primary calling to be light to the gentiles of our land and to preach the gospel in every corner of Nigeria.
  • We have left the commission to make disciples and evangelize Nigeria to take up the commission to fill our bellies, our pockets , build our church empires.
  • LORD HAVE MERCY ON US, HAVE MERCY, OH LORD, HAVE MERCY ON US OH LORD OUR GOD

Unrest in the hearts of the people

2 Samuel 19:9

And all the people were at strife throughout all the tribes of Israel, saying, The king saved us out of the hand of our enemies, and he delivered us out of the hand of the Philistines; and now he is fled out of the land for Absalom. And Absalom, whom we anointed over us, is dead in battle. Now therefore why speak ye not a word of bringing the king back?

Strive: discussing, quarrelling, arguing, contending, disputing, complaining, debating, conversing, deliberating, reflecting, pondering, thinking.

Prayer points
  • Lord, begin to cause an unrest, a disputing in the heart of the Nigerian Christian against the gospel we have received, believed and become.
  • Lord, let your people begin to question and query this gospel, this fragmented gospel that we all were born into, that has no capacity to truly save us and deliver us from sin.
  • Dear Holy Spirit, please begin to convict and convince your children that there must be more to the gospel than this.
  • Let us begin to revolt Lord in our spirit, Lord cause an unrest in the hearts of your children that will make us to begin to question what we have believed and are living our lives for in the name of the gospel.
  • Dear Holy Spirit, please use the instrument of your word to show your children that the king ruling over them now is a tyrant, a tormentor, a dictator, an oppressor his name is mammon, his name is the old man, an associate and affiliate of satan himself.
  • Lord, let the hearts of your people begin to rebel against him and his instrument of mass destruction, hirelings who call themselves “Men of God”.
  • Let the heart of your people begin to yearn for you who delivered them from the hands of this philistine in the first place.

Bring Back our King!

2 Samuel 19:9

And Absalom, whom we anointed over us, is dead in battle. Now therefore why speak ye not a word of bringing the king back? (KJV)

So now, why are you [leaders] doing nothing about bringing back the king? (AMP)

Therefore why are ye so slow to bring the king again? (GNT)

Why is no one talking about bringing back the king? (GW)

Why are you taking no action to restore the king? (LEB)

So what are you waiting for? Why don’t you bring the king back? (MSG)

Prayer points
  • The only means by which King Jesus will be brought back to sit upon His rightful throne in Nigeria is the means of the “Mystery of the Gospel” preached it His entirety.
  • Let the gospel come afresh to us in Nigeria, let the gospel be preached as though we are a heathen nation oh Lord we pray.
  • Enlighten our eyes again, let us see Jesus Christ and what he came to do afresh, let us turn to Jesus Christ and let the veil upon our hearts be removed in the name of Jesus.
  • Lord, let Your church, Your children in Nigeria begin to turn from the adulterated, incomplete gospel that we have heard, believed and imbibed over some decades now.
  • Let the “Mystery of the Gospel” spread like wild fire and let us no longer defer to Saul.
  • Lord, deliver our Davids, our Jonathans from the hand of Saul and the doctrines that Saul has perpetuated over the years.
  • Bring the cross alive on our pulpits again, oh! turn us unto You afresh , turn our eyes towards our redeemer upon the cross. O Lord, bring the cross centered gospel to your people again.
  • We appeal to the cross, we appeal to the blood of Jesus concerning Your church in Nigeria Oh Lord. We plead with You O Lord.
  • Raise for us out of Zion Your rods in Nigeria, Your Moses, Calebs, Davids, Jonathans, Samuels, Deborahs, Esthers, Nehemiahs, Ezras, Marys, Peters, Pauls, Johns,  raise them Lord, raise them Lord.
